if i subscribe to 12months on this site is it like a membership or is just paying for the site to be run. im doing it anyway cus its a cracking site but was just wondering.

I guess it's a bit of both, you do get certain extra benefits as a subscriber and yes the £12 goes towards helping with the site running costs.

Re turning purple, it's supposed to happen automatically but often doesn't, especially if your paypal email id doesn't match the email you used to sign up to the site with.

 

Best sending a PM to one of the admin team with your username, payment paypal ID etc.
