rallyesport04 Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 wicked show at least the weather was good this year
Dalek Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I think the show has now tipped the scales... It's a victim of it's own sucess, i think it should now be a 2 day event. Its too big to see it all in one day now. Also would like to see the show back on the grass, imo it is horrible on the tarmac. It's too hot, less relaxed and feels like a traffic jam in tescos car park. When it's on grass it just feels like a better show. Is there anything that can be done to address these points Simon ? Don't get me wrong it is THE show of the year ( i did a round trip of 1000 miles to get to it again in a relaltivly standard anglia) I will be there again next year, i would just like to see it back even better ! Oh and i have no objections to all the modern cars at all, but how about this for a suggestion. Give them there own little area. ALL the modern stuff together don't care if its at the start, middle or end area of the layout but it would be nice to have them contained and not splashed about amongst the classic fords. Cheers Craig
Arfur Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Hello Craig, Cheers for the comments. Here goes! The show is almost a two-dayer already, as you can turn up from lunchtime on Saturday. This year the Saturday RWYB was classic Ford-only from 5-8 pm, but we have discussed making Saturday a Ford-only RWYB for the whole day. I think this would be a good idea, but I'm not in favour of making the whole show a two-dayer - it would make the Sunday feel less special and water down the special attractions like The Great Unveiling. Having said that, it hasn't been ruled out and the decision is not solely down to me! The days of the show being exclusively on grass are now over. There are a number of reasons why, but the two main ones are the show is now too big, and the other is that Santa Pod won't allow it - there are two much bigger events that take place not long after CFS (and which utilise both the hard-standing and all of the grassed areas), and the risk of churning up the land prior to these events is too great. As for the moderns, it works better if they are mixed in with the rest of the clubs, and as has already been discussed at length elsewhere on here, it's almost impossible to decide what is a classic Ford or not. Despite the comments, there were actually fewer 'modern' classic Ford clubs in attendance than last year! Cheers! Simon
