Not a rwd osf but still old, please help

My brothers girlfriend has got a mk3 2 door escort, i must admit ist not rwd but is cool

Anyway theres a prob with it, it wont rev that well and kangaroos and cuts out when you drive it, its had new plugs cap etc but still does it. Its a 1.3 cvh i think with a vv carb.

Any ideas?

I'd be checking the fuel side of things, and being a VV I'd be wary, they were known for alot of problems, especially with the diaphram.

hmm maybe thats whats up with mine, erattic idle sometimes floods on the line

there's a valve/jet ( i think its an anti stall valve) on the carb which sometimes gets blocked and would cause this
