ALWAYS wear a helmet. Gave a mate a go on my suzuki rm125 and he managed to get airborne over the handlebars and land on his head and shoulder from 10ft in the air, very quick run to a+e, 18 staples and 15 stitches later he looked like this

We really thought he was dead, he lost a HUGE amount of blood and his skull was visible through 3 of the gashes on his head, a flap of flesh was hanging from his temple to his eye socket and his tooth went through his lip, and the mother of all gravel rashes on his shoulder, all this wouldn't have happened if he was wearing a helmet and protective armour, so if nothing else, always wear a helmet!

This is why you never muck about with bikes they will hurt you should it be it 50cc or some mental turbo 1600cc busa, you should always have a lid and the proper kit on.

So what you are saying is you let your mate do this to himself?

Nah, I hardly put a gun to his head and told him to do it, he knows the risks as well as, if not more, than me. I accept resposibility for letting him on the bike but he has far far more experience on scramblers than me and he can really handle a bike, its not as if I was handing it to a novice.

And I always do wear the kit but as I only got the bike I havn't even been anywhere to get a helmet yet
