DizzyDennis Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Glad you enjoyed mate What car was you in? I agree that it wasn't very exciting this year, last year was better. We got bored quick so went and signed up and went for a few blasts down the strip. Didn't brake any land speed records but I was fully loaded with camping gear
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 13, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 13, 2009 I would just like to say a VERY BIG THANK YOU to those that made the effort to come to Retro Show and park up on the club stand It was really good to meet some new people as well as seeing some familiar faces . It's a shame that there was not more cars and clubs there as it turned out to be a fairly decent day on the weather front (it had been forecast to be dry all day since Friday ). We handed out 60 car passes and had a waiting list. Sadly only 30 people turned up and we may well not bother for future shows as it is disappointing when we make the effort to arrange a club stand, sort out passes, use our own postage to send them out and then 50% are a no show .... there will always be those that cannot make it on the day for mechanical or other last minute emergencies but this many is frustrating. We would ask you that in future, please only put your name down for one of these valuable passes if you really do intend to come to the show. I suspect if people had paid for the stand passes then it would have been a different story ... I know my comments are ALWAYS controversial but it has to be said. If you don't think you will be able to afford to come or you are just shoving your name down because the pass is free ... please consider carefully before you add your name to the list as other people have missed out this time because all the passes were reserved. Thank you.
lotusless Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 not controversial jo you are spot on with what you said!! i think osf should get money up front from ANYONE that reserves a ticket, then when they see a bit of rain + dont come out osf still have some money to cover postage + wasted time well done to all that made the show + ox i'm glad you enjoyed your first osf meet despite the lack of motors
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 13, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 13, 2009 I understand that people don't want to waste their money and come to a show in the rain - I would be the same but the forecast that I saw on Friday AND Saturday on the BBC said that Sunday was gonna be a clear day and it was apart from one small shower in the morning Anyway, we may consider doing it differently in the future if at all ... we shall have to see
huxmk1estate Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 i would like to say thank you for my stand pass... i almost didnt go due to problems with the escort and the tow car... but was nice to catch up with some of the old face like XE GROWLER... etc... wicked show just a little upset that i couldnt run....
rsdaz Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 sorry for not showing up i know it must be frustrating to put the effort in and then to have so many not turn up.i had planned to come but unfortunately was ill over the weekend and couldnt face doing anything.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 13, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 13, 2009 Illness and death cannot be helped mate so I will let you off I am not moaning at those who really could not make it ... I just feel miffed sometimes when we try to organise these things for people and then people just don't bother to turn up because they can't be arsed I know for a fact that a few people just decided not to bother

caprinerd Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 ty to jo and the team for the pass only ran a few runs with exhaust issues and had to drive back to norfolk on just a manifold and the attack head ache tablets (i was a bit loud) i didnt think much to the show and was disapointed in it but at least the real heavy rain held off, it was still worth the entrance though as my self, wife, and three friends ( who all came down in mates 190e ) enjoyed it and its the first time most had been to the pod or even been drag racing gold star to you jo and others for getting it together for us oh one other thing sorry for the entrance just saw the tyre marks and though you`d been playing oops
