Hi bit of a dumb question but thinking of changing the interior on my mex to the clubman seats etc at present i have the RS "rolltops" i think, what interior was supplied with the car ie mexico as standard??

Also seen a few cars with wood panels and some without (mine is without) again what was the standard fitted set up??

Many thanks

recaro rolltops were fitted to later mexico's as standard, early cars had a vinyl seat as standard i believe and the custom and clubman contours were options

There isn't really a "standard" set up with AVO cars as customers could specify virtually anything they wanted from a huge list and many did. Either sets of seats would have been available as would wood / non wood, decals/ pinstripes centre consoles. Hell you could almost spec a works car straight from your RS dealer.

Thanks for the fast reply, my car is a 73 would that be the interior i have already then? also do you know if the clubman were options on the later cars also?

Want to stay as original as possible, but damn i love the clubman seats lol

Ps cheers Vista we posted at the same time i think your reply answers my question, why do all the "know it alls" at shows tell you what is right and wrong when clearly they have no clue themselves lol.

I think he has the custom pack seats Terry. Which are rolltops and where available as an option on Mex's & RS1600's. They are slightly different, less baulky than the Mk2 ones..

They where standard in Mk1 RS2000's.

Have a look inside a Mk1 RS2000. They ALL had rolltops or Mk1 rolltops as they're comonly known

I'll bet ya you red Escort that I'm right :beer:

I thought that the roll tops where made by Scheel rather than Recaro.

No, early cars had German made Scheel seats but they're pretty rare (more common in Germany) and quite different to the mk1 roll tops. Which incidentally I don't know whether they were made by recaro or not, I've always known them simply as RS recliners and they were available with or without headrests.
