One piece of advise i would mention is that instead of learning stuff through TAB, try to pick things out by ear, its good practice and after a while you'll be able to hear a riff and know how its played without even picking up your geetarr.

 

When you first start, things are boring, you'll likely just wnat to sound like Zak Wylde immediatley, but stick at it and you'll be screaming like mad in no time.
