.pete. Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Does anyone know of a refurb kit, or a set of black stickers for sport wheels. I was speaking to someone on the phone today about spending hours masking off the newly applied silver on some 13" Cortina steel wheels to respray the black inserts, only for the black paint to soak through the masking tape meaning i've got to start over again. He said he thought you can get pre-cut black stickers for the job and apply over the top. These are the wheels i'm on about:
Chris! Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Talk to cortinacrazy on bsc, I painted 2 sets a month of so back and it was a horrible job
.pete. Posted October 15, 2009 Author Report Posted October 15, 2009 I won't be painting the inserts black again. I'll repaint them silver at the weekend then they'll go up for sale. If they don't sell i'm painting them all black with a silver edge and keeping them.
turbo-mike Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I bet you used masking tape, wrong stuff, use clean edge as it is a flat tape not the rough stuff that masking is. Would it not be easier to paint the black first then mask that up then paint the silver last,I know you should do the light first but it would be a lot easier to mask the black. Mike
.pete. Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 yep, I just used standard masking tape. I'm only repainting them to sell them, so i'll redo them silver and advertise them for sale.
