if you have not sent out a stand pass for the then there is no need to now as I sold the Cortina yesterday. I will still go for the day but not have an OSF to show. -
Series 1 1600E

you'd spend a long time trying to find another one like that if you had let it slip away. -
I've already got a ticket for the show, and a camping ticket, as a friend of a friend pre-bought his and now can't make it so I bought them off him. Basically I could do with a night out, but can I trust you all to not keep me awake all night drinking. This advert was brought to you by alcohol, 9.6 units to be precise.

it's OK I guess. Would look better if it was white with a black roof. But not a bad effort.

I know it's not cool on here to like mk.3 Escorts, but the S1 definitely has a place in Ford history. Maybe the S2 aswell, but only in Mercury Grey. My opinion only, not necessarily shared by OldSkoolFord.com.

loads of roads on the east coast. The B1159 and A159 on the coast is a great little time passer. I used to drive the kids around it to get them to sleep in the car. Now I just drive it for fun when I go there.

I did this last week. Driving my 1998 crappy Clio and a mk3 Capri comes up behind me. I wanted to make a sign that says 'Don't look at me like that, i'm one of you' but whomever it was would have still thought my car is sh1t. because it is.

i've had another go now and seemed to have made it better again. I took the lid off and had a poke around. It might need adjusting again as I don't know if i've now overdone it, but at least I can now see how it works so can adjust when I can drive it on the road.
-
well i've now tried this and made the car undrivable. It's now got about 30 degrees of play before the wheels start to turn. It now makes no difference how in or out I have the screw. I have even taken the screw right out and it makes no difference. Is there anything I can do to rescue it now as the MOT is booked for next Friday.
-
thanks for the help. I'll have a go at that at the weekend.

Can anyone shed any light on how to tighten the steering on the steering box on the Cortina. I've got a fair bit of play before the wheels start to turn. I was told a while ago what to do but have forgotten the details. I remember it had something to do with undoing a nut, doing something else, then tightening the nut again.

first car mk2 fiesta

Nice looking car. I had one as my daily driver until last year. I'd have kept it but it was just starting to show signs of age and I didn't have the time to sort it out properly, as I wanted to spend time on the Cortina and couldn't find time to take care of the Fiesta and work on the Cortina so it had to go. 100% reliable and easy to work on. -
i thought this earlier when I was looking at the Cossack for sale thread. I thought it was just me doing something wrong so never mentioned it.
-
Similar to mine. I think that if a garage apprentice can do it, then I bet I can. Apologies to good mechanics, but I've met enough in the past that would pass at the missing link, and it has cost me good money for stuff that I can now do myself which is is relatively easy with a bit on confidence.

I bought my Cortina because I liked the colour. Orange. When I saw it is real life the paintwork needed redoing. I considered other oranges like the american muscle car orange, and Ford ones, then looked at metallic silvers and greys (like a Skyline I like), then painted the wing british racing green, then black, then Riviera blue, then primer grey (which I really liked), before deciding white. Then Diamond white before deciding Frozen White as I thought if white then as bright white as possible. Sometimes some colours look good until they go on the actual car then they don't look as good.

should he stay or should he go? tina mk3 2000E
.pete. replied to witneychick's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Depends on your ability to store it and your restoration skills. You say it is both stunning and in need of a full resto? If you have somewhere to store it and can either do the work ,or most of the work yourself, then it would be a good project to keep. If you do not have a garage, and the work will all need to be paid for, then it's probably best to sell it to someone who can. A couple of years ago a bought a mk5 Cortina for really cheap in OK condition from the top and inside, but when I got it back to my garage and saw the welding that needed doing I decided to sell it as I can't weld, and put the money to my current Cortina. Sometimes you need to make the right decision before it becomes a money pit. -
MK1 Cortina GT 4 door after 19 years in a barn!
.pete. replied to DarrenM's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Nice cortina. More importantly are there any more pics of the mustang? Is it a 1966 or 1967? -
i've got a confession to make. about 15 years ago I drove off to work down a narrow road where I was staying and clipped a wing mirror of a parked car and never stopped. I was late for work in my first job and could only just afford the (then) £700 a year insurance for a new driver on a £250 car. I couldn't afford a claim against me or to be late for work. It still haunts me to this day and i'm relieved to get it off my chest. I know the damage that was done is not as bad as described, but they may still carry it around for a long time. hopefully they will come back with an apology and money when they are less panicked. Chances are if you ever have a crash, it wil be in to their car. That's the way karma works.

it's Pete again. I know it's a tough decision and a risk but I suppose i've just been looking at the future as i've got over 30 years left to work and it would be better to be happier at work and earn more money for doing the same job. I've always fancied that side of the country so even if the oppertunity came up somewhere else with the same position and salary I wouldn't even consider it. The job officially goes on the notice board next week so it will be all over soon and i'll just have to live with a missed chance.
