In The Pit Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I'd put it on ebay or buysellcortina. It would be a shame to banger race it as there are not many left now and it looks restoreable.

Andrade Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Personally im not a fan of banger racing salvageable cars Amen
caprinerd Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 the only old school motors i raced were sheds and beyond redemption, plastics were different case raced them with tax and mot. so not all banger boys kill good classics as for the mk5 if you can save it then do it if you think its gone to far to be saved strip it down sell the parts and then sell the shell to a banger boy and you will get a good profit plus help others, with the parts you sell on, to keep there osf on the road
mk3cokebottle Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 god i hate debates like this ........ how many of you wouldnt think about taking spares off a car thats in a scrap yard ??? how many people enjoy the fact that there car is worth a fortune ??? how many people buy parts off ebay ??? 95% of above is due to motorsport even escort 2 drs are uber rare and cost a bomb because of stock car racing in the 80's !!! and rallying in the 90's !!!! bet you dont think about that when your fetching nearly 15 times what the car rolled off the production line for when you sell it are ya lol just have a look at the examples below and have a think about wether you would part with the same money and put as much effort into building a race car as banger boys do http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ford-granada-mk2- ... 1e58cd04f2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1983-FORD-GRANADA ... 518d5f8247 this q below came from the above link sums it up in one i beleve Q: your crazy, banger racing! this car is far to mint for the track i dont want it but what a waist! i dont approve keep your granny alive 18-Oct-09 A: Yes, perhaps I am crazy!! Or perhaps you can blame the restoration brigade who have messed me around in the past when I've tried to sell the car. The good thing about the Banger Racing boys is they are far easier to deal with in that if they win something they'll usually end up paying for it! Sadly this ins't the case with a lot of the so called car enthusiasts out there who spend too much time fannying around rather than just doing the deal! Mayby though one of them will get off their backside and actually put in a bid to keep the granny alive rather than just tut tutting and blaming banger drivers when its gone!! nuff sed speak soon daz
