doppelganger Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Hi All, Competed in the Stage Rally at smeatharpe on Sunday 18th. Was great fun and the first rally ive actually got to the end of. An excellent day until stage 5 when it escort spat the fan belt out. The bolt from the alternator tensioner to waterpump had worked loose and fell out. Belt got pretty chewed but stayed in the engine bay. Fixed it in the service area and went off to stage 6 where...... It happened again only 4 corners in. With a huge desire to complete the rally i pushed on hard and did a 4.5mile stage with no water pump or alternator. And it held together allbeit with a little water spraying up the windscreen. With no-one having a fan belt in the service area I hit on the idea of taking my navigators fan belt off of his Nova (see..... they are good for something) and the last 2 stages went without a hitch. Even with the problems we finished 33rd overall and 5th in class. Here are a couple of pics of the day. As you can see my Navigator enjoyed the day as did I. Rob

doppelganger Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 Was that Ally's MK3 Astra? Saw him in the morning and then loading up soon after. Trevors carb bolt came loose again as well. We put one in when it came in for a check over as it was running rough but it didnt get lockwired in. Hopefully we'll all get a clean run in january.
mr shag Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 it was ally and just to make it worse it was his navigators first event
