I am trying to decide which way to go with my 1300e Mk1 escort.

Ive read loads of threads on here and my gut feeling is to make it like an RS2000 with regards to spec and interior, not sure yet on the graphics but would probably go RS2000 style also.

My problem is that my first car 18 years ago mas a MK1 with fibreglass bubble arches, rears stuck on and whole replacement wings with bubbles for the front.

I know there is no definite right or wrong answer to this but would just like to know peoples thoughts but what is best to do, Fiberglass bubble arches/wings or weld on steel Bubble arches.

Obviously the steel is better but would like to know what most others would do weighing up the cost factor and time taken to fit the metal ones and also how much would fiberglass ones de-value the car potentially or would it put some of you off if you were going to buy a car done with fiberglass?

Hope that made sense, sorry for the long winded question!!

i wouldnt be put off by buying a capri with fibreglass panels, you will get people that dont like plastic panels but imho it dont bother me if its plastic or metal

The racecars use bolted on GRP arches, as they take a few bashings duing their working life. So if your doing a race rep, then you could bolt them on.

Or go steel

If your doing a road car, use steel rears, as GRP are pains to blend, and also prone to cracking. Use full GRP front wings.

Thanks for your points of view.

Pleased that it seems to be acceptable to put the GRP wings on a classic car, goes against my initial line of thought but if it doesnt de-value my car then bubble arches on the front will be so much easier.

I think I will take the advice on the rears done in metal atleast as that does make sense but might just go metal all round if I can afford it.

Does anyone know from experience which make of GRP front wings with bubbles fit the best if I go that route?

Must admit that they do look the part.

Does that company do the Bubble arch style complete wings and if so has anybody used them so that I can have some feedback on quality and fitment.
