nitrousnutter Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Hi all, ok this isnt actually going in my capri but need a little help with wiring up an electric oil pressure gauge on my merc 307d recovery truck, ive had a problem with the oil pressure sender unit ( i hope lol) so would like to fit an electric pressure gauge so that i can keep an eye on the pressure, ive bought a cheap autometer gauge from ebay that comes with a sender unit, now if i put the new sender where my oil light sender is can i put the oil light and wire to the gauge on the same terminal or will they interfere with each other?? as it occured to me that if i fit the gauge i wont have an oil warning light lol and if possible would like to keep the light. im sure that this is the same as fitting one to an osf so hope its ok to put it up here lol, any help would be apprciated cheers Jason
Fishtailparka Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 You need a "T" piece. One bit screws into the block, the pressure guage screws into one hole and the pressure switch (for the dash light) screws into the other. You can't connect the light to the pressure sender, they don't work like that.
nitrousnutter Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 yes i thought as much just wasnt sure if they would work or not lol, ill have to try and get hold of a t piece for it, although as a temperary measure ill use just the gauge for the time being as its off the road at the mo cheers J.
