Lardy Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 I am just about to put a pair of 40s on my car and was told i dont need a fuel pressure regulator is this true can i run them without one or will my car end up a burning mess on the side of the road
SmokeEm Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 You will get conflicting stories on this one mate but 2.5psi is really what you need and it'll be more than that without a regulator if using an electric pump. Always best to fit one
Lardy Posted November 9, 2009 Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 i was just going to use the mechanical pump as i believe that has enough uumpph (thats a very technical term known only to those that know nothing)bloke who is sorting out the carbs for me said its not needed because the carbs have needle valves or something? but you always see cars running twin carbs using them but they arnt cheap but cheaper than restoring a burnt out car
ASBO CAPRI Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Yep regulator not needed if your using the standard mechanical pump. stock pumps not powerful enough to overcome the needle and seat in the carbs so no risk of fuel pissing out carbs. Regulator should be used with electric pump though.
