chrisl Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Hi everyone, I need to get some paint for my escy but not sure on the exact colour! Some people say its Kawasaki Green and other people have told me its an original ford colour? Ho do i go about finding out the colour, is there a ford colour chart that i can get hold of or can it be made up using a chip of paint?
Smudger105e Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Decent paint suppliers should have swatches of paint that you can put against the known colour and compare them.
Jubfab Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 You can get paint made up to sample no problem but it's a definate talant to do this. If you lived up north I could have put you onto just the guy.. I'd avoid the big supplies and try an out of town smaller type - take the sample in and see what they can do. As has been said last resort they should be able to get a close match from a swatch..
lee_capri Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 the shop i use have a paint scanner for job's like this one
In The Pit Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 If you post a picture up we may be able to identify it. Whats the paint code on the VIN I may be able to translate that for you and provide you with a paint code.
Craigorypeck Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 My car was resprayed a few years ago and I couldnt find the paint code. Eventually met a previous owner at the annual NI ford show, luckily he had the code! If its been sprayed a non ford colour you may need a photo-spectrum analyser, or at least i think thats what its called! Accident repair shops use them to try and match in new panels... Hope this helps
chrisl Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 This is the first time I have added pics to the post so hopefully this will work and you can see the pics!! anyway I need to know the colour, I have been told its an original ford colour, it looks like Le Mans green to me, what does everyone else think?
caprinerd Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 chris i`ll have a chat to a mate as he`s local ish and see where he gets his paint from and go from there

In The Pit Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 This is the first time I have added pics to the post so hopefully this will work and you can see the pics!! anyway I need to know the colour, I have been told its an original ford colour, it looks like Le Mans green to me, what does everyone else think? I'm pretty sure it's Java Green if you say thats the original colour, Java Green was available on a W reg. Le Mans Green was a much earlier colour. If you go and look at the silver VIN plate on the slam panel it will have a code under the title "colour" now I seem to have two codes for Java Green so i'm guessing the code should be E0 or F0. If it says that then I think that it is Java Green, those codes are the actual Ford codes not the paint code, as luck would have it I do have the paint code for Java Green but there are also 2, XSC1379 & XSC1379A. It would be worth getting a rattle can made up to check the match just to be sure. I hope i've been of some help. (if the code is different let me no what it is and i'll try again for you).
chrisl Posted December 2, 2009 Author Report Posted December 2, 2009 thanks for all your help and the paint code, im def gonna give Java Green a go!! the ford code actually says 'P0' but dont think its the same colour from new but was told its a genuine ford colour
In The Pit Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Ok the P0 code comes up as either S i e r r a Beige or Signal Green 75. I don't think it's the Signal Green 75 as the 75 means a 1975 colour and ive checked the Ford colour brochure for 1980 and it doesn't list that colour. S i e r r a Beige is a 1979/1980 colour so I think it's that. If your car still has it's colour plate it should say the colour on there (the colour plate is on the right side of the slam panel and is painted the same colour of the car) it should for example if it's S i e r r a Beige say S i e r r a on the plate. Need any more help let me know. (ive had to spell S i e r r a like this as the swear filter changes it to the word Jellymould!!)
chrisl Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks mate thats great news, she must have been beige then i reckon, will have a look tonight at the plate! She must of had an expensive respray as even under the seats and boot its all the same colour green!
