caprinerd Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 dont think your allowed to use A frames now unless you mean a spec lift (dolly)
capriaddict Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 dont think your allowed to use A frames now unless you mean a spec lift (dolly) A friend of mine had to go through the legalities of this. Basicly if your towing a car on an 'A' frame it has to be road legal, on a dolly as at least one set of wheels is of the road then it counts as a trailer
bortaf Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Who did he ask cos when i had an A frame and VOSA and the police stopped me they said any vehical being towed by a SOLID towing device becomes a trailor and as such only needs leagal tyres and if over 750KGs needs to be braked, still illeagal to use em for transporting a car but the car being towed doesnt need an MOT or tax I even got stopped with a totaly stripped empty shell (on the way to the sprayers) with suss obv, on one but as it was under 750Kgs and had leagal tyre it was fine, thats the trouble they are a grey area, illeagal yes but no-one in charge seems to know exactly why, does yer head in
caprinerd Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 doc id get in touch with the local police and find out the legalities of using an A frame first mate and if they say its ok then make a note of the name and number of the guy/girl that gives you the info so you can state who told you if you get stopped for doing it, cover your arse mate safest way
