did he?? thats so sad and right on top of christmas aswell, although you dont realise but he must have been getting on, i love the sweeney tho, there is another film that came out before the sweeney called regan, it was the pilot i do believe was very good especially the bit when he got a bottle of whisky stuck down his neck and put behind the wheel of a (brand new) Mk1 escort!

Its sad to here that, was it on the news/in the papers? it should have been as The Sweeney was such an important and sought after show. I loved his character in The Sweeney the way Haskins kept Jack in line but allowed him to sometimes cross it as he knew he was a good cop. Can't remember the name of the episode but its the one with the guy from Manfred Mann in and Regan gives Haskins a mouthful for not going with his idea and if he had these people wouldn't have been killed, Haskins knows he's right, great line and great acting.

 

The Sweeney had such a good cast of actors you really do think its real.

 

It's a shame ITV don't make shows like that anymore.
