I recently mentioned to someone i wanted an OSF. Why is it that everyone who doesnt own one (or never has) always knows someone who had a high spec ££££££££ minter (usually a mk1/mk2 escort) - if it wasnt themself who owned it - and was the best driver.

 

Im proud to say i want a basic spec model. If i choose to buy bits for it, i will. but i wont spend thousands (that i dont have) on it, and it probably wont be the best on the road. but it'll be mine.

 

Im not aiming this at anyone in here as everyone appreciates all models/ranges, its 'the others' at work + in general who talk about it. Try it yourself, next time you speak to someone at the garage or when dropping the kids off at school, noone admits to having a basic model that was shit, it always had to be the best.

i know what you mean is it the people not interested in osf's who say it? most other classic cars people buy the highest model possible so can go round saying they got top of the range it's annoying there the same car at the end of the day people do have there favourate model but some people don't appriciate model below

i know what u mean,i use my capri as a daily so constantly meet these people at petrol stations etc. "i had a 2.8 laser", "i had a 3.1 injection",anyone who has a capri will no that these people are talking sh!t,but my favourite was "my mate had a tickford,the spoiler was as high as my chin,its was awesome" soz mate,tickfords had small spoilers,and if anyone did have a tickford,they defo wouldn't put a huge spoiler on it.

i actually had that for the first time the other day when i was in work, a lady overheard me talkin about my capri and goes "oh we used to have a capri, it was a lovely car, it was a laser" and i went "ooh?" expecting her to say summert like "yeah, a 2.8 one" or "yeah a 3ltr one" but to my amazement she goes "yeah, it was a white 2ltr pinto one, got it in 85 when it was brand new, best car we ever owned"

i have had that too, and then they argue its not standard and it is infact a 3ltr bonnet

That makes me chuckle when people say to me...didnt you want a 2 door!!?? I just say....yes thats why I have a mk1 mexico cosworth and two 2door mk2 escorts but i just fancied a spin in my favorite of all....the first one i ever got...my faithfull 4door!!!!

think we all get it i live in a little market town in the middle of know where and i think every RS3.1 must have been owned here at some point as they all had one
