Beakster Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hey, Not been mentioned yet as its not a popular choice, but.... How about a Ford 2.3 16V Engine from a Scorpio 2.3? Once you up the compression radio and fit reprofiled cams you are looking around the 200bhp mark. With some uprated pistons and conrods, a turbo charger and megasquirt I'm sure you could manage 400bhp for not a lot of money. And the engines themselves are really cheap and easily found. Here's one in a Sierr@:

Sounds perfect for installing it instead of the rear seat? Mr. Greenn! good for even weight distibution! i was thinking more along the lines of custom bellhousing or isolating the rwd part of a 4wd setup! you got me thinking though! audi TTs have the engine across the bonnet but 4wd so you could force it into a fiesta? or at least waste a few grand trying!
texr2000 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Been speaking to a friend about other engines other than YB, said about Focus ST/RS engine as they sound nice tuned up and still got a ford badge on it, even tho its stuck over a Volvo badge
scoooby slayer Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 its abit of a tall order wanting 100 bhp per litre of capacity cheaply. the only way cheaply is a big engine from an old jag or bmw something along those lines. put a 600 hp rb26dett in it i gaurantee you wouldnt be dissapointed
texr2000 Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 put a 600 hp rb26dett in it i gaurantee you wouldnt be dissapointed Only 600.... Another one of them engines where power is just down the size of your wallet... but from what im told 5-550BHP isnt that hard.

texr2000 Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Good Engine The RB, bit like the YB a detuned race engine i think. Do like Skylines as seem to be able to handle big power and still be reliable
cortina-mk1 Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 the only problem putting in an in-line 6 in to a car normally fitted with a 4 is firewall mods going into where you would normally sit inside the cab just chops to much from the car Re: RB26 engines etc thats why the CA18 is a good choice as its the 4 cylinder version
