mk2*mad Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 I like the look of 175/50/13 on 7j wheels, but i have rs2000 wheels (6j ?) and obviously these tyres look slighlty higher profile on these as there is less 'stretch'. I found some tyres 165/55/13 - do you think they would give the lower profile look due to the stretch? or would the fact they have a 5mm deeper wall defeat this? any one had any experiences/ pics?
Stu_B Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 the 55 is a percentage of the width which is 165mm (6.49 inches) so the sidewall is 90.75mm (3.57 inches) 175/50: 175mm (6.88 inches) 50 (%) = 87.5mm (3.44 inches) so errr hope that helps
mk2*mad Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 oh right cheers for that i just assumed the middle number was the depth of the tyre in mm's
mk2*mad Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 so by that equation 175/50 have a sidewall depth of 87.5 165/55 = 90.75, so basically will look the same as there is only a few mm in it and both will have the slight stretch...
Admin Vista Posted March 26, 2010 Admin Report Posted March 26, 2010 Yes they'll look similar but the grip from the 165 will be less as the tyre contact patch is smaller. Of the two I personally wouldn't want either but the 175 will give you more grip.
AdamB Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 i run 175/50's on my 6j steels, they're fine all about the yokies
mk2*mad Posted April 14, 2010 Author Report Posted April 14, 2010 i run 175/13's on my 6j steels, they're fine all about the yokies like it - what profile are these 175/50 i guess?
jamesmk1 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 i run 175,50,13 on my 6j wheels and it looks fine
