Does anyone know where i can buy spring clamps to take springs off a double wishbone set up such as cortina mk 3/4/5, for reasonable price??

Ive got the ones to take springs off macpherson struts, but the claws are too shallow!!

Everything ive seen is upwards of £300 alot of money for something im probably gona use twice...

Yeah they are a pain aint they cos the wishbones get in the way, the propper tool replaces the shock but they are hard to find :(

I cant remember what make mine are i just got the ones with the longest fingers i could find that are set at an angle to the threaded bar not flat cos the coils on the spring aint level and the flat type clamps can slip at the most alrming moments

Even then the lower end of the threaded bar sits really tight against the lower wishbone and the bolt head sits against the top sping seat, the best ones i've used had both the clamping fingers threaded so they both move instead of the usuall type where the bolt head sits against one set and the other set are threadad and get pulled up.

Putting new standard springs in is a nightmare, lowerd are a breaze :) TBH i usually end up with most of the tension taken by the clamps and then use a trollyjack to get the bottom arm up enough for the inner bush to line up with the holes in the xmember

I get an old shock in as soon as it will reach the top mount to stop it all flying appart if things slip, not the easyest of springs to change i know :(
