PaulMags Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Joe my dad had a hatchback rover i think it was a 330 4 door it was unbelievable on fuel like between 60 and 70 to the gal and pulled like a train.i'll ask him what model it was when he comes down the garage thurs.it would be ideal for a cheap runaround for ian back and for to work
mk3cokebottle Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 head gaskets on rovers are very iffy though ..... go for a crewcab mk2 transit with 2.5di , 5 speed box and get dep on the road for a runaround keep it old skool jo
Admin Mk2Jo Posted April 14, 2010 Author Admin Report Posted April 14, 2010 Thanks Paul Chris ... DEP is a cossie powered monster not really a runaround Ali ... that is just perfect I reckon
1300e ian Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 vw golf mk4 or a bora tdi 6 speed.great mpg and if its 2002 or newer only £125 per year tax
SebringRS Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Chrysler 300c - I managed to average 17mpg in mine over 10,000 miles so you should just see double figures when towing You could even get the SRT design one, so you get the big rims and better/heavier interior to get even less mpg
livewire7116 Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 vw golf mk4 or a bora tdi 6 speed.great mpg and if its 2002 or newer only £125 per year tax i know the 03 passat is £150 tax, one thing you need to consider is the kerb weight for towing, passat has a 1600kg tow capacity which covers most trailers with a car on.

Mr.Sumo Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 You may laugh , but you can"t beat the mileage i get out of me Julies Citroen Xsara Picasso i do Fletham to Epsom and back daily , and Julie goes Feltham to Weybridge and back daily , plus the school run , shopping etc etc all on £30 a week....roughly i am using about half a tank of diesel . Oh , and towed a twin wheel caraven no probs to Cornwall.....didn"t like the hills too much , but then again , its not a Range Rover V8 diesel Oh , and it costs less to Tax than the Capri
