theres a sign on the outskirts ot Derby on the pavement that reads "Police patrol vehicles only", often a camera van parks in the bay to catch people speeding. if i was to be caught by this van would i be able to get off the fine by saying that the van is clearly not a patrolling vehicle.

That the one that's been parked on Challons Way in Ilkeston all week? Been past it 8 times, and not speeding once!! And I forgot it was there every time!!

Errrr..... well imo then you wouldn't get off it, cause you are still commiting the original offence of speeding, but I would question why the vehicle is being parked there, normally these bays are reserved for emergency vehicle's and that clearly dosen't fall into that catogery. The signs are going to be amended soon, to allow Highways Agency Traffic Officer (ie HIPPO'S) (Highways, Impersonating, Police Officers) to park on them.

 

Is the vehicle by being parked there causing an obstruction??,

 

If this road falls into the catogory of a 'fast road' ie M or A road then it should have rear red lights illuminated, which I bet it hasn't, if it was me then I would write a letter in, espcially if I had been caught, questioning why the vehicle is parked in this bay, as it is quite clearly not designed for that use, bloody money grabbing gits, go and sit up somewhere else and rob some other unlucky bugger

If it has a national speed limit or is a dual carrigeway then it falls into the catogory of a fast road, and any vehicle that is operating on there is required to have flashing red or amber lights, me thinks that might have got them by the short and curlies

Challons Way is a 40 mph limit, it's there that I got my last 3 points (and what do points make?) but I was doing 62 then. Didn't know the works' 1.7 dTi astra went that quick!!

I travel up and down the M6 everyday and there is loads of them highways agency vehicles!

I personally think, from what I have seen, that they dop a grand job!

 

you often see them helping people who have punctures or have run out of fuel ect. and havnt got a clue what to do!

 

I have no idea what they are ment to do though!

its on the A6 in Allestree, it doesnt obstruct anything as its been put where there used to be grass. its a 30 limit, it just bugs me the way it says its for emergency vehicles only yet a mobile piggy bank can park there, i bet if i parked there for an hour pointing a camera at people i would either get a caution or the crap kicked out of me cheers daggle for you input to help solve the issue (well not solve but hint that i shouldnt go speeding past just yet )
