fostersice Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Warning do not go to redline tuning Ok so as u all know I have taken the car to redline for a dyno and set up they did a run and told me it was running rich on tick over and lean on boost and was told they could not do anything with if it unless I have a new engine loom and stand alone management system this was at a cost of £1350 plus coilpack and leads so over £1500. When I said about setting he'd up I was told there is no point until they had fitted the new loom and management, bare in mind I did say that the car needs setting up as all parts have just been bolted on and not set up So got on to talking to joe from gsmotorsports And then went to him with the car after setting the fuel reg from 2bar to 3.5bar setting the timing and dizzy up putting new plugs in setting up the -31 actuator and co2 and idle she is like a rocket She is only set to 0.9bar of boost on low boost on the controller £180 job done As I am running a l1 ecu with 330bhp chip he was limited to tuning her But if I get a L6 ecu he can custom chip her for me £100 ecu £100 for the chip so if up want any work done Joe is your man GSMOTORSPORTS So if redline had fitted a new loom and new management they would have still and the some problem as before as they won't still have not set anything up I'm sure there are good if you have a car that's running right and just needs a dyno but it you want a job fond right mmmmmm sorry redline but £110 to do a run and mug me off????? So credit where credit is due THANKS JOE @ GSMOTORSPORTS
SLEEPY Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I know it's hard times, but some firms will try it on. Good on yer for trying elsewhere first.
fostersice Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 I was told to call him and right away I know lol He asked all the right things and when I said I had a L1 ECU he told I should wait and get a L6 ecu as he can tune it better.trying to save me time and money The thing is How many poeple don't try some where else and end up having there arses raped??? I even said I was told to go the from guys on osf If they had said sorry we can't tune your system you need this for us to set it up I would have be more understanding we live and learn And just wanted to pass on THE GOOD (gsmotorsport) and THE BAD (redline tuning)
105Ian Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Joe from GSMotosport built the engine for my Anglia , and he has done an absoulte top job of it . I have been in the motor trade for over 25 years myself and have to say Joe is one of the most knowledegable people I have ever meet what he does not know about tunning and mapping Cosworths is not worth knowing . I gave his number to Pelvins of here and he is also over the moon with the job Joe done for him , and by the sounds of it so are you .
Admin Vista Posted May 17, 2010 Admin Report Posted May 17, 2010 Joe is well known and highly recommended over the road on TS, if he wasn't a ten day camel hike from me down here in Cornwall I would probably asked him to build my engine too.
SmokeEm Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Sounds to me like Driver needs this guys number......
fostersice Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 07940181847 07944379611 both his numbers
fostersice Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 L8 is even better i did ask joe about the L8 and he said just get a L6 as it will be the best for want im going to be running and as if the day i met joe there is only one man working on my car so what he says go's lol
tommyGTR Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 hi Gents i have used Redline several times and have nothing but good things to say he is currently carring out a full engine management install on my twin turbo LSX ultima GTR and i have lots of friends who use him for full race cars with good results! Rich is a very clever bloke who will be honest with everyone. the fact that he is currently booking 3 months in advance and has a motorsport clients list as long as your arm should tell you enough! i know for a fact he does not do mapping on L1,L6,L8 or P8 and will only set it up to a point if there is potential problems that would take up to much time to trace he will try and suggest other options usually stand alone system that he can map and satisfy the customers requirements. hope this helps and please dont judge on one persons experiance which only tells one side of the story.
fostersice Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 He was told before booking the car had to be set up as everything had been bolted on If he could not set up the car why try on dyno it and charge £110 I'm not saying the guy is shit and I'm sure he is the nuts with stand alone systems The problem was and is I wanted the car set up and then dyno'd It needed setting up first but was told it needs £1500 spent on it When in fact all it needed was setting up To be fair if I had met him before having my wiring done. Would have had him do it But the fact is if I was told sorry I can't do it I would have found someone who could and then had it dyno'd by them
tommyGTR Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 i agree i doubt it needed 1500 spent on it but for him to be happy what he is giving you back he will suggest an upgrade to a much more modern and controlable system that runs rings round the old webber morrelli stuff. if you way it up you could prob sell all your old stuff for not far off that amount as the old stuff still comands big money. 1500 for a mapped stand alone system aint a bad price!
fostersice Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 £1500 is a good price but not when it only cost £150 to have it set up again all I want is to have it so I can drve it if it was a case of turn this here and turn that there this will get u on the road but you really should have this then fine But sorry you have a big problem you need to rewire the car and then so on. That's £110 and not even try and set anything up the point is As you said he can't set up l1 to l8 ecu so why book it in as this was the point of doing it having the car set up not the dyno! £110 it's not a cheap fook up the arse is it and as it only cost £150 with a money back if your not happy from GS MOTORSPORTS I even gave a £30 drink as I was so happy just to be able to enjoy driving the car. THAT SPEAKS FOR ITS SELF
