fezza Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Right then,im on the lookout for my next oldskoolford and have stumbled accross a mk1 cortina 2 door 1500 deluxe, the car is complete and is in very good condition, the paintwork looks a little tired but its very solid and i could'nt see any signs of previous welding, that not to say it has'nt had any though, doess'nt look like it needs any either,it has'nt been run since 94 so im guessing it would need an engine overhaul as well as brakes etc,i know its hard without pictures but im trying to figure out what the value of the vehicle is,is there some sort of price guide i could look into or maybe a few people from here would have an idea, cheers
stevie.t Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 is it a 2 door or 4 door there a big price gap between the two, if its a 2 door id say about 3000 + 4 door about 1,500?
Slammed Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 deluxe 1500 2 doors- doggy ruff-0-600 rough-600-1500 useable-1500-2300 tidy-2300-3500 mint-3500-6000 from current prices i have been watching on ebay etc.. and in the newspapers/mags too but as usual get it for the cheapest possible, make sure it has miniml rot etc.. but by the sounds of things it sounds it just needs a good service and engine brake overhaul..could be a good buy
lead foot Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 so.................when are you going to get it then !!!!!
fezza Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 Well its a bit of a long storey but i'll try keep it as brief as possible, the doris who owns the car is my wife's friends mum,she is VERY sentimental over the car,she even shed a tear whilst talking of selling it,its one of those things where she doesnt want to sell it but knows its never going to see the road again in her ownership, since the viewing she has come to me with a suggestion, she wants me to pay half of the initial asking price,in return she remains the owner of the car,i fix it up and get it back on the road and then she can have occasional use of the car once done, now i dont know if she is on medication or not but i did'nt have the hart to tell her to take a running jump So,im going to back round there(tried tonight but no one was home) and tell her that although i appreciate her idea seemed good to her thats its just not an option for me for lots of different reasons,i'll offer the asking price which is very reasonable i will also mention that if ever i sell the car i will offer it back to her first but obviously any money or time spent on the car would have to be taken into account, then leave her to decide whats best for her,so as things stand the chances of me buying the car are hanging in the balance.
