72mk1escort Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 It a 1600 Xflow bored to a 1640 with a big valve ported and polished head, bcf2 kent cam, 32/36dgv 1600 mexico spec carb with K&N air filter,4 branch ashley manifold and single box system, and a bestek electronic igniton kit set up to suit the engine spec. Any ideas on what power i should be getting guys?
72mk1escort Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Im happy now. How much would it make with a set of twin 40's on there roughly any ideas ? Just people keep saying it will make it alot faster but im not to sure myself
dawesy1700 Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 dont know about 40's but my 1660 xflow with a 234 cam and ninja bike carbs had 120bhp @ the wheels, ive jus put a new head in to get machined, still stayin a stage 2 but better quality work, hoping for 5-10bhp more,
sambo Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 120 at the wheels is around 145-150 at the flywheels and is very, very good power for such simple mods?....
dawesy1700 Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 i got lucky with the base engine too, it was never fitted to a car, spent its life driving a water pump or similar and never went above 1500rpm, it has the 1300 flat top pistons too, H&H ignition etc etc, im very happy with it,
72mk1escort Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 Any more suggestions people? Also would i gain much more power by getting the car rolling roaded?
dawesy1700 Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 its always worth getting it on the rollers, even if you dont get more power your more than likely to see improvments in response, mpg etc etc. plus its also peace of mind to know its running at its peak performance.
