Cosworth Conversion

What's Required and Why

You Will Need:

Granada Donor Car (or if not available, the engine complete with ancillaries, loom and ECU and also the Rev Counter)

Suitable Manual Gearbox - Either the old Type 9 (a little weak) or a MT75 Hybrid (more on that later)

Suitable Gearbox Mount, speedo drive cable and possible Custom Propshaft depending on gearbox used

Manual Cologne V6 Flywheel and clutch (which type will depend on choice of gearbox)

Crank Needle Roller Bearing (for gearbox input/primary shaft location)

Cortina 2.3 V6 engine mounts

Electric Fuel Pump & Filter

Suitable Radiator - 2.3 V6 Cortina, 2.8i Capri or whatever you can find down the breakers (mines from a Nissan 100!)

Electric Cooling Fan - Pusher type (in front of rad) and no larger than 10" diameter

Universal Air Filter

Odds & Sods - Such as wiring, tubing, bit's of metal etc...

Short answer no it won't fit, long answer ....

The B/H wont fit for a start and the input shaft is to short, if you fit a V6 bellhousing to the 2.0 box it will go on but will fall appart pretty quickly cos the input shaft wont be sitting in the crank bearing and will flap about and destroy the input shaft bearing.

Thanks for all the input ( excuse the pun)

I have now managed to identify there are two differnet shafts

long = V6 19 teeth and short= pinto 18 teeth

so looks like next job is either a used gearbox or a shaft change

but thanks again for all the GOOD advice

regards Paul :D

V6 have a 3.3 first gear from factory, the others have 3.6 first(except diesel boxes). Input shaft therefore must have different teeth. They both have 23 splines for clutch, unless like me you happen to buy by accident an ex Caterham T9 box with 19 splines!!!
