mk1 escort gearbox problems...

Hi all, can anyone help me, ive just changed my mk1 escort 1.6 xflow from an automatic to a manual, everythink is in fine but when i put the gear stick in i only get 1st & 2nd gear, if i take the stick out i can get all 4 gears & reverse, any ideas plzzzz.

 

Also why cant i get photobucket to do photos on this site, thxxxxx steve........

i think u r putting the stick in the wrong way what else can it b

If you pull the rubber gaitor up there's a circlip, remove that then try fitting the stick, this helps to get it in the right place, remember to put the circlip back in after it's tight.

 

 

Also knock the lock taps over as they can come lose !!!!

i had something similar to this i took the inspection plate off of the box and put it back on the wrong way around caused a similar problem

Thanx to 72mk1escort as it was the inspection plate was the wrong way round & now has all 4 gears, once again thxxx.......
