Yeomans22 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 i'm about to put the engine in my capri, but i can't undo the plug on the type 9 box, its all screwed up and rusty. can i fill it up throught the gearlever when the box is in the ar? thanks
Ken B Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 No. theere is no way the oil can get into the maincase from gear lever hole.
banarama Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 sounds like a hammer and semi blunt chisal job
Fishtailparka Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 I expect if the box is out you could fill it throught the splined bit in the tailcase, it seems to piss out of there readily enough.
mrprecovery Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 might work has done before. me dad taught me get a socker slightly smaller than the nut...(sometimes old school sizes help). whack it on with a hammer loads of wd40 and iv never had a bolt not come of. there is also a left handed thread socket you can get. screw it in (opo to normal) and use the socket to undo.
evil knievel Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 Soak it in WD40, then get a hammer and decent chisel and undo it that way. Failing that you could always drill it out, as it sounds like you need a new bung anyways.
rallyesport04 Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 a good pair of stilsons will undo it the harder you push the more it bites what your undoing
