Working on other peoples OSF's

when i was doing my cortina resto gt_jim posted an appeal in here for a local welder to do some work on his cortina - i volunteered went,had a look at it whilst i was there and a deal was struck ( zetec water rail in return for my time and labour) this was months ago, finally last week the time came for me to honour my end of the deal jim had made a nice job of removing the rusty bits and preparing the car for welding so last saturday (hottest day of the year so far) i was sat with my head in his rear wheel tub seaming in a new one , god its was hot in there.

we also fitted a new rear chassis leg and a small plate to the boot floor,

turned out really well- it seems like years since i did the welding on my cortina and jm did look a little worried when i said - "now you know i'm only a hobby welder,dont expect perfection " but i was well chuffed with the result - all the practice on my own car has paid off,

 

overall what supprised me most was how much i enjoyed it and i'm itching to go and finish the job off now

I will say without the help of Louie Bagel on my steering conversion my mk1 wouldnt even be close to ready but we do normaly just end up drinking enough to float a small shipping fleet, go team lager
