1800 pinto

I have a 1800 pinto, I,ve read in different mags that it,s not worth bothering with. I can see that the porting on the head is different but other than that what differences are there and why is it ignored as a tuning option?

I think it is basically because 2 litres were and still are dirt cheap.

 

Tuning engines isn't particularly cheap but if you can get an engine with a +10% capacity (with the associated increase in torque and power) for an extra £50 it would be silly not to.

I wish I could find a "dirt cheap" 2.0 pinto. I just want to get a runner for the time being while I sort out my present engine

I suppose it depends on your definition of dirt cheap:

There was one for sale in the back of issue 162 of CF, recently rebuilt, L&B, Grp 1 valves, aldon ignition, rs ally sump burton cam for £500

i use to race bangers and if i had the 1.8 pinto i use to rip it out and wiegh it in found the 2.0 and also the 1.6 were much better
