Hi, I'm in the process of researching the mods I can make to my Mk1 Cortina pre-airflow. It currently has drums all round and seeing as I'm putting a tuned cross-flow between the wings it seems sensible to uprate the brakes.

I want to keep the Lotus Steels that I got with the car so I need to know the best caliper/disc options so I can be confident in slowing the thing down.

get yourself some "gt" front struts as they have disc brakes then you can fit some M16 calipers froma 2.8 capri if you want vented discs but you will also need capri hubs

It all depends on power etc. for a road car i think the drums a pretty good on the back

Hi, thanks for the reply, i have a pair of Gaz coil-overs to go on so I can basically fit any caliper that will fit behind the wheel.

It's going to be a fast road/trackday/hillclimb car so the plan is to convert to rack and pinion so I can fit a tuned crossflow with a rear bowl sump.

cheers Pete

I think you have to upgrade to disc struts to get the fitment, early ones wil have p14 calipers, but later ones should gave p16s, fitting capri vents will NOT give you better braking ability over solid discs, all they will do is give you a brake which is less prone to fading,
