bortaf Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 yep we have thousands of 4 cyl RWD MT75s but the V6 ones are very rare
loop Posted September 30, 2010 Author Report Posted September 30, 2010 Its MT-75 from v6 Scorpio and v6 Sierra. What is the price?
Beakster Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Its MT-75 from v6 Scorpio and v6 jelly mould. What is the price? The V6 ones typically go for 300-350 Pounds. They are hard to find though and most are home made using a 4x4 V6 box and a diesel box. You can find instructions on how to do it here: http://www.fordpower.org.uk/forum/index ... wtopic=895
baz105e Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 so whats the difference between the 2.0 i4 and the v6 box ???
loop Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 Ok. The four I have are not home made.
Ken B Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Baz I would imagine the casting(bell housing pattern) is another differnce. But why would you want a 3.6 1st gear (or a 3.8 for that matter) thats worse than a normal type 9. Stolen from the Sierra club website. MT75 (2.0 DOHC and 2.4 V6) 1st 3.890 2nd 2.082 3rd 1.342 4th 1 5th 0.822 MT75 (2.9 V6, 2.5 diesel AND 2.0 4x4) 1st 3.608 2nd 2.084 3rd 1.363 4th 1 5th 0.829
baz105e Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 mines the 2.0 box and 1st gear seems perfect for a good launch off the lights
bortaf Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 so whats the difference between the 2.0 i4 and the v6 box ??? B/H pattern, input shaft length, gear ratios, same differances ae the type 9s have but harder to swap about (intergrated BH), most people accept the ratios are worse in the MTs but the box is stronger so make do
Beakster Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 most people accept the ratios are worse in the MTs but the box is stronger so make do Why do you think they are worse? Got a mate who upgraded his Capri (2.9 12V Cologne) from a Type 9 to an MT75 and much prefers the ratios. He's running the standard 3.09:1 2.8 Capri diff ratio. In his words: "i reap the benefits of better ratios than a 2.8 4speed box, and a 5th ratio that makes it cruise like a granny scorp"
Ken B Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Because 1st gear is very low mainly. Ideal if you tow a caravan. The reason your mate doesn't notice it so much is because of his high diff at 3.09. The best us english axle boys can hope for is a 3.54.
