who used to make bogeys (and go outside)

I went to a customers house today, and in the garden there was a proper home made bogey. Pram wheels, bits of wood, and what looked like a motorbike seat nailed to it. We used to make them when we were kids in the late 80s. Anyone else make them? but I bet you guys have different names for them.

 

Don't see them anyone, too much internet, video games and electronics

 

as a side note, in the 80s we spent all our spare time outside, riding bmxs, mountain bikes when they 1st came out. We would be out from school finish, in for tea then back out till dusk or whatever time we could stay out till, until our parents called us in. All we ever wanted to do was play out. Its so different these days.

yeah those were the days mate. i blame computers for the lack of kids going out. its all my 13 year old wants to do. we limit him to an hour a day after he's been kicked out to play.

we got a zx spectrum in the 80s, it took so bloody long for a game to load, there was enough time to go out and build a bogey!

i built one about 10 years ago, out of a wheel chair my dad pulled out the local river and a baxk ddor off the house when it was changed.

 

i even got 2 lucas rear fog lights from a mk2 escort and got a clear lense and wired them up with an old car battery.

 

its still in the back gargen ill try and get a picture on the weekend.

I must admit I dont mind my lads doing the xbox stuff etc, they do go out and play footy, skate park etc etc but the amount of t0ssers there are about I like knowing where they are, its not the kiddy fiddlers I worry about now as my lads are 17 and 15 but its the fooking smack heads

theres only so many I can slap at one time

no Jiffer, thats a good point, my thread is really about whats going on these days

 

when I was a kid, there were no druggies hanging around, obviously there were nonces, but we didnt seem to be at risk, no one was aware of it, if there was a dodgy guy living nearby he was called a "covey"

my boys are my life steve mate

they both work hard, holidays and weekends there on site with me and when they want something they get it and have learned to repsect money. for example young scotland wanted a motox and got one but he had to work for it, he's had it to bits and back together again more times then I care to mention

one day I will have to cut them loose but till then I pity the fool who goes near them (little bit of mr t there )

I think I was about 12 when I was cut loose but it could have been before that.

My lad is 21 and it hasn't properly happened yet. No idea why that is, and doesn't really make much sense as he has been on the other side of the planet for months.

Times change I guess.
