Craigorypeck Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Just fitted a red top pump and I thought they were the interrupter type, but it just keeps going when the bowls are primed??? I bought it second hand so may be a few years old, is it only the most recent versions that have the interrupter function?? Many Thanks
samurai Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 You add a switch to turn it off or you wire it properly to the ign
Craigorypeck Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 You add a switch to turn it off or you wire it properly to the ign It's wired in via a fused ignition switched relay with an inertia switch safety... doesn't get any more proper than that! I was told red tops had an interrupter type design- it actually slows down to a stop when it fully primes the system, ticks over slowly when the engine idles and speeds up when the engine requires more juice...

Craigorypeck Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 It dont even slow down?? flat to the mat all the time?? Do ya think it fooked?
samurai Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 I got mine on a switch ive never noticed it slowing down on mine...
w p e Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 run the pump and bleed the fuel system at the carb end the pump should slow to a steady tick if it dont remove the end cad and clean the filter and insides
Craigorypeck Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 Pump has been stripped and cleaned out. There is a bubble at the top of the filter king, maybe this is not allowing the back pressure to slow the pump..? Makes sense, I'll bleed it tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. Hopefully! Cheers
