i have been thinking of putting bike carbs on my new xflow so what are ther advantages do they really give better mpg and could i use a bestek ignition, what carbs would i need, and who does manifolds for them?

They do give better MPG

Less fuel = Less power

They will happily give you the fuel when you want it  there normally more efficent because i believe they run on a three jet system. i had then on my 1700 crossflow and it would happily piss all over gti golfs and hunt a scooby down all day but when driving round town with the cam i had it was a really nice drive

well they gave me 160bhp from a standard zetec and i went to santa pod and back on £30 (180miles) and they dont need setting up again

So they get my vote

My carbs are ZX6-R ones 37mm "choke"

bought a manifold plate off of "the bay" and built my own

one thing i will add is bogg bros -they do make nice manifolds ,But apparently all they do is put bigger main jets in- which is no good on a car engine the primarys and air correctors need adjusment too the main headache about bike carbs is finding someone who is both willing to tune them and knows they're way round them

honestly cant answer that ? I'm not suggesting the bike carbs are the best option but for someone on a budget they're a very good opton, if money were no object i'd be on throttle bodies for sure but fact is i cant afford them my carbs cos me £40 and i made the manifold me self (all in all including the fuel pump my induction stands me @ £75 + £90 rolling road tune) so £165 including set up on that score alone i'm very happy i chose bike carbs over webers

Out of interest, why do we never see fast 1/4 times from bike carbed powered cars ????

Because Webers/Dellortos/throttle bodies are better and so they should be for the additional £££££££££ (purchase and running)
