hollowaykid Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 ive fitted a weber 32/36 to my 1600 pinto and i think the carb just keeps flooding because the fuel pump, has anyone else had this problem? just want to confirm this before i put in a fuel return! im getting almost no power low down and and it splutters when starting up and when the engine stalls.
HowieRPM Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Hi Are you still on std engine driven fuel pump or electric? If on an electric Facet etc you will probably need an inline regulator such as Filterking. Fuel pressure at the carb should be approx 2.5 psi with 3.5 max anymore and you will have the symtoms you describe. If still on std again check fuel pressure to eliminate fuel pump probs if ok change needle valve in carb and check float heights(check also floats for damage/puncture) Hope this helps Neil
hollowaykid Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 the carbs only done a couple hundred miles! but not to sure what fuel pump i have ill have a look! cheeers for the advice!
HowieRPM Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Hi Std fuel pump is below your distributor just follow the fuel line from your carb. If carb is quite new could be a stuck needle valve or you mean its done starship miles it will probably be worn on the spindle and drawing air Hope you sort it Regards Neil
bortaf Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 fitted loads and loads and (well you get the idea) DGAVs to 1600s without the return but you need to make sure the float is set correctly and the valve seats propperly and shuts off the standard 1600 pump actually pumps less than a twin choke equipped car (shorter pump rod) so should not be the problem if standard
