capri71 Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 Thankyou While I'm on, can anyone confirm Ive understood what needs doing with the wiring? As far as I know, you just extend the battery pos to the boot, make a new short battery earth to the boot floor and attach the old battery earth to the chassis in the engine bay - is that right?
rousecapri Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 what i did was nip to local scrappy find a 5 series bmw or 7 series look in the boot remove the battery cable all the way through the car,in the engine bay you will find a heavy duty junction box. i mounted the jct box on the inner front wing of the capri and then you can mount everything off there just bolt your earth cable to a good earth point in the boot.(i did 2 diferent earth points) cost me £10 at the scrappies

capri71 Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 got a company making me a tray to fit my battery, alloy, swagged holes, bolt down clamp, made to measure - £22.50 the cable will be another £20 but I like new stuff when its potentialy dangerous stuff
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 26, 2010 Admin Report Posted November 26, 2010 I believe I have a heavy duty cable running from front to back on my Escort which works well
capri71 Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 So its just the battery pos cable that needs to go the distance - as I suspected I was a bit wrong about my custom tray - its costing 32.50 not 22.50
