harlanstoys Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 hi, i opened the boot of my granada saloon this morning to find that the spare wheel well was full of water and very damp in the boot, ive never had a granada leak there before, ive had them leak in the front onto the floor, im assuming that its gotta be coming through the corners of the rear window where all granadas go,any other ideas as to where it could be coming from thanks
grifterkid Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 This sounds daft but the surest way to find the source of the leak is to get yourself in the boot with a torch whilst a friendly helper (who will let you out of the boot later!!!) showers the car with a hose pipe... This way you should be able to see where the water is coming in so you can formulate a plan to sort it out, good luck sir...
Tom Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 another way is to dry it all out and spread talcum powder dust around the boot at all the points where you might think it could come in. Wet the car down, dry all around the outside of the boot, before you open it, to stop drips and check inside. Any water leaks will show as track marks in the talcum powder
mk3cokebottle Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 have you got chrome strips round the rear window rubber ? or has there been any filler work in the corners of the windows that you know of ? the other thing that i have heard of is water coming through the back of the light lense where it runs down the gully above the back lights beside the number plate
bortaf Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 rear light seals, the water drains down the channel straight onto em, i usually just get some S/H ones and double em up
harlanstoys Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 thanks for the advice, i will have a look and check all possible ideas tomorrow thanks
