mk1estate Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 I know all cars that are on the road should be taxed, its unfair to all the other that do pay thier taxes so i shouldnt complain, but £260 is a bit steep and something which worried me is that you only have 24 to call the clamp office before they tow it away, now if i was away on holiday how would i know where it went and the cost would have rocketed up. anyway just to let everyone know that the clamp is now off the car and as it all legal, ie tax ins and MOT i might just give it some large up the road lol then ill take it off the road and in my drive and scorn it again then get a refund on the tax. Thanks to everyone who has offered help and support
Yeomans22 Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 if it was a neighbour who grassed it up, as you said starting giving it the beans up your road a bit later.
Jayney Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 The DVLA do patrol in their vans with scanners on looking for cars with no tax, had a few up my road. Yup. I saw one a few months ago in Merthyr Tydfil - in an area of classic terraced houses with a back street between each two rows, the DVLA van was going up and down the back streets. Very sneaky.
Russian Bear Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Glad you got it sorted dude!! As i said over the phone, sounds like you got some nice neighbours...Tossers!!!
mk1estate Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 Thanks for the Very cheap insurance quote russian bear, i will have to keep you in mind when the estate is due, but managed to get a one day policy for just over £20 had to pay £68 for the tax but im going to get a refund on that when i send it back lol
Smudger105e Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 You won't get a full refund, you will have to lose 1 month's tax plus an admin fee
mk1estate Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 Just got a letter from the DVLC to say i now have to pay a fine because the car did not show a valid tax disc when it was clamped, ive paid the clampers thier release fee, ive paid the DVLC for the tax, now i have to pay them again. Ive said it was a waste of time and money me taxing it in the 1st place if they were going to fine me anyway.
