Vilho Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Hi, I have been away from classic euro-Ford scene for 5 years, and deeply regretted selling my mexico replica the whole time. Last week I bought a mk1 Cortina from a member nick "Tuomas", originally a 1500 Deluxe. I really enjoy that car, my dads first car was a 1965 Cortina 1500 Deluxe and I have always listened his stories from "the good old days" when there was no speedlimits in Finland.. He had his ´tina engine rebuilt with forged racing pistons and hi-lift cam etc.. a bit unusual in Finland back in the early seventies to a street driven car. So, he was very happy when I bought one too. I think I wont let him drive it though I had my cortina MOTd on monday, it passed at the first try. There was a slight gap at the lower ball joint and I bought a new one from ebay. This year its going to run its 1600 X-Flow, but maybe in the future a zetec and type9 and with rack and pinion. Allthough I really like X-Flows too, I am a bit confused what to do. There is a pre-airflow 1200 for sale at the price 1300€ half a mile from where I live, maybe that would be a better target to do bigger mods as it needs more done anyways. If only I had more money At the moment I am modifiying a Gt Cortina centre console to fit with Taunus gear box. Sorry not able to put links yet, but with a bit detective work one can find the pics through my profile. I have had in the past 3 escort mk1 1300 sports, 2 escort mk2 1600 sports and one 1600 GIL (finnish Ford dealer special version, only couple of hundred made), Capri II 2,0S (converted afterwards to 3,0 engine) and a bit over year ago my wife made her dream come true and bought a 1966 Mustang from California. Its a 3.3 litre six-banger wth C4. Its now having a full engine rebuild Thats me, basically being a Ford man all my life, we have had fords as a daily driver for ever too. -Ville
