Hello mate....DAZZA asked me to comment on this

Thing to look for are...ROT...like in most old fords, general panel conditions, repair panels are availbe from classic owners club but are expensive and take an age to come through...like 3-4months..they also stock other parts such as rubbers, brake lines etc...

rear quarters..the like to rot...

outriggers...again they rot....

boot floor is massive and has watertraps all over the place so check that.

Chassis rails are prone to rot too

rot in a posts, inner wings, arches, front and rear doors etc...ROT ROT ROt its the enemy, especially with these as panels are difficult to obtain and expensive

Front wings are nigh on impossible to get...luckily one we have is virtually rot free french shell...so check front wings are good or at least repairable otherwise you will be on a long expensive hunt for more!

windscreen rubbers like to perish and are expensive and awkward to replace..same with rear window rubbers

rear lights fetch hundreds on the bay and are rare as rocking horse crap so make sure lenses etc are there..

to fit a pinto nicely the bulkhead would of been modified and make sure this has been done well....

the original suspension steering etc is early cortina based although springs are specific to the classic/consul capri...if its been modified with a pinto it may of had a steering rack conversion so check this has been done well too...

they are nice "crusier" cars and have a big ebgine bay so engine changes are infinate...the original arches can swallow huge rims, Neils car will be running 13x9J rims on fron and 13x10J on rear with no mods to arches..

Good luck mate and post some photos of the one you found....if its no good to you it maybe useful to us for parts

cheers for the help mate, yeah thought itd be a rust trap, not even seen any pics of it yet so kind of excited,

even if its knackered i might still take it anyway dependant on the condition of parts for breaking it

if i do take it ill stick up a thread either way,

thanks again

dont think im gonna go see it now guys, prob to much of a project for me at the minute but here's the guys add

http://dundee.gumtree.com/dundee/81/72693681.html

just think it'd be a shame for me to destroy it by letting it rot further or doing dodgy repairs...know my limits

somebody snap it up
