harris horse power Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Whats the cut off year for tax exempt cars? thanks simon
4-Door Pete Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Yes 1973 is correct but the car has to be built before Jan 1st 1973 but can be registered later.
rallyesport04 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 as above the car must be built before 1/1/73 if the car is registered after this an you can prove that it was built before 1/1/73 using the vin number you can then apply for historic tax
harris horse power Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 Thanks for the reply , that has been a great help.
KJ 1320 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Simon I have got a chart for the vin codes that will give you the build date if you need it m8
down2earth Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Simon I have got a chart for the vin codes that will give you the build date if you need it m8 Still got that chart then Kev Build date chart could also be in the Burton catalogue I seem to remember if you have one, not sure from which year catalogue they started to put it in there though. Also of note. The DVLA will grant exemption to any car first registered within the first week of january 1973 as I understand it
davesilcock Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Shame they don't add a year every year, my escort is Jan 1974 and I'm going to tax her this weekend, can't leave her in the garage any longer!
