msymes Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Hey there all I know there has been many posts on brakes previously but i was wondering if you all wouldnt mind shedding some more light on the subject. I have a Mk2 escort and am looking at upgrading the brake to give it that little bit of an edge, but I am unsure as to what packages would best suit my car. I use it mostly for road use however I do run some track days and I'm hoping to compete in a hillclimb series soon. I've had a look at some packages from Wilwood and HiSpec, and was tempted to run with some wilwood either dynalites or midilites but am really lost as to what would be best. If anyone could shed any lght on the subject or direct me to someone who can that would be much appreciated... Thanks in advance Michael
sambo Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hi mate, its all down to budget really. AP brakes are the best, but the 13" kit will set you back around £950. Some people use the caprisport brake kits and give very good reviews. Its all down to cost. How much you got to spend?
msymes Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 Cheers for the response mate... And no unfortunately I don't have that much to spend I was more hoping in the region of 500 quid... Hence why I was looking into the wilwoods and highspecs Michael
sambo Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Definatley worth a call to Caprisport i think mate. Or make your own 'kit'? Use a caliper of your choice and get a mounting bracket made up? Wilwoods have mixed reviews really mate, some swear by them and others, ... well, just swear at them.
msymes Posted June 17, 2011 Author Report Posted June 17, 2011 where is the best place to pick up the 13" AP kit... Any help is greatly appreciated also what parts does the kit not include that i will need to purchase, such as, will i need a new master cylinder/peddle box, or any thing else. cheer for the advice mate
