fezza Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Just bought a new manifold for my pinto and now need a 2.25'' system to match it up with, thing is there seems to be two options, left exit and right exit, i could'nt give two hoots what side it comes out to be honest but what i want to know is there an advantage to either one, seems the right exit is cheaper(maybe because it does'nt have the bend at the back to take it accross to the passenger side???) Cna anyone shed some light on this as i need to order it asap, thanks
chunkys mk1 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 only advantage i see to the right hand exit is if you have to do gearbox or a clutch you won't have to move the exhaust
turnover Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 also you wont scare pedestrians on the pavement
SebringRS Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 One would give you more ground clearance i believe, as it doesn't have to cross over, atleast thats what i heard
fezza Posted June 29, 2011 Author Report Posted June 29, 2011 Well I went for the cheaper right exit in the end because I'm tight or spent way to much money on my engine having fitted it tonight it does seem to have some advantages with clearance, still ain't much room under there
RS264 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 any pics, it sounds a goer for track days! I'd like to have a 2nd system extractors back! Not too sure how the authorities will like it tho..noise etc
fezza Posted July 2, 2011 Author Report Posted July 2, 2011 No pictues yet im affaid, basically just a straight pipe that runs down the drivers side of the car instead of all the bends needed to take it accross to the passenger side
RS264 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 and loud! what about a silencer? custom made? do you have to cut the chassis rail?
fezza Posted July 3, 2011 Author Report Posted July 3, 2011 Yep it is quite loud, there are single and twin box systems available,I chose the single box No cutting involved you just need to make a mount on the boot floor, very simple
