Fuel leak, please help

one the reasons I wasn't at Ford Fair aside from a crack in the axle is fuel leaking from the carbs trumpets, at first I thought it was the float heights but thats been checked and checked again, it only happens if its got a full tank, only thing I can think of is the regulator being mounted too low as when I disconnect the fuel line from the carb petrol drips out quite fast, the regulator is mounted just above the crossmember, I'm 90% sure it's not the carbs but hey I'm not the brightest lol, and does it matter what angle the regulator is mounted? as mine is mounted on its side, anyone got any ideas please? cheers

Regulator would ideally be mounted horizontally, what pump are you using ???

 

Float heights being correct wont help if the pressure is too high and it is pushing past the float valves.

 

Strange you say it only does it with a full tank

its a Facet red top mounted in boot Dave (overkill I know but saves upgrading in future), fuels dripping out of the fuel line after the regulater when the pump is switched off, had no trouble for twelve months but the couple of times I've filled up the night before I'm going anywhere I find my garage covered in petrol the next morning, half a tank and it doesn't happen, if the pump is switched off should fuel still be dripping out?
