Digger69 Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Hi, just introducing myself. My name is Darren, but I'm also known as Digger. I race a MK II Cortina fitted with 2.8 on carbs, using a MK III tina axle with a locked diff at Swaffam raceway in the newly formed Classic Modified class. It's a non contact class & we run on 2nd hand 10" slicks. My tow car is Scorpio Ultima 2.5 TD. My reason for joining the forum is that I bought a 100e last year which originally was heading for the track, but when we got her back to the yard we thought she was too good to put on the track, so she's been sitting there for about a year. I've now decided that she will return to the road as a lightly modified sleeper. The engine & original running gear will be going into another 'period racing' project, & hopefully the 100e will be receiving a transplant from a Sierra dohc. So hopefully I can get some tips from people who have already modified a 100e, & make some new friends. Thanks for reading. Cheers, Digger

FBF Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Why do they call you digger? Are we in the same trade?
Digger69 Posted September 11, 2011 Author Report Posted September 11, 2011 Hi, thanks for the welcome, & I look forward to reading up on the 100e build tips. Off down the yard tomorrow to hopefully start stripping her out. As for Digger, it's a link between my surname (Barnes) & a character from the US mini series Dallas back in the seventies. #69 is my racing number after one of my favourite oval racers from the same era. If I can sus out how to post pics on here then I'll put some up of my Mk II Cortina racer, but you guy's might be interested in our site http://www.classicmodifieds.co.uk/
