Tucker Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I need to get some new wheels, currently have six inch wide minilites (185/60/13) and was thinking about some 7 inches for some more grip. But im not sure on how they look put one 7 inch on (175/50/13) but i think I looks a bit too "boy racer" and not in keeping with the car which is a beige 4 door Mk2 Escort, with a brown vinyl roof. Im trying to add some pics to show what I mean but is says Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.
Mk3laserboy Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Depends on what look you're after..me would have 185's, or for a chunky feel 205x60's for the rear, probably stick with 185's for the front.. imo 175's may be a little stretched on a 7" rim See if anyone has a pic of 4dr mk2 escort with 7's on, to give you an idea!
marky4 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 i like the 175 look but for all round grip and comfort go for the 185
rsdaz Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 for me it's 175 50's all day long but the car needs to be quite low for these tires to work or the wheels look lost in the arches.
Andrade Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Just got 185/60 on a 6" wide rim on mine, just right I'd say!
XjamesX Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Personally im 175/50/13 all day long mate, not long put them on mine and love how they look
msymes Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 In my opinion 175/50's on 7 inch rims looks really really nice... hence why i have just fitted these to my car However i previously had 205/60 on 6inch rims which i also liked but given the fact that i am about to lower it i chose to change to the 175/50's below are some pics to show you... the car is not lowered at present This one is of the day the wheels went on A couple of weeks before changing the wheels... not minilites but you understand how the tyres sit Hope this helps Michael
XjamesX Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Are those minilites or superlites / superlites 2's? Did you have trouble getting the front ones to fit if so? The centre caps kept popping off when I fitted mine, needed more of an offset to get them to fit!
silverstreak Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 i agree ive got 175 50 13 on superlites with no probs at all
msymes Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 Mine are just minilights... Had no problem with the centre caps on mine not sure why yours are coming off The only problem that i encountered was that because they had been painted with a thick layer of sealant, when i came to tightening them up, at first they were tight but then when i drove down the road the sealant wore off and i had to add about half a turn on them... Hope you understood that haha... Moral of the story is always check your wheel nuts are tight i was lucky that i noticed the movement early and averted a disaster hahaaa Hope that helps
