aden Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 anyone got an ideas what this might be? the engine we got for the mk1 has got some good mods done to it, the head has got bronze valve guides, group 1 valves, a lot of porting and polishing has been done already but im a bit baffled because have been measuring the cam and the readings we are getting dont seem to tally up with anything, must be doing something wrong but i cant believe that somebody would go to all the trouble of doing this work to a head and then fitting the standard cam back in also it was fitted with long reach followers and a vernier pulleyjust wondered if anyone had come across anything similar or if these stampings mean anything to anyone or give me a few pointers on the best way to measure it so i can maybe identify it cheers
Tall paul Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 That second pic looks like FR32 to me?
aden Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 yeah it does say fr something really hard to tell and cant work out really how to measure it
2litreScapri Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 If it has got FR32 then it ust be a Kent cam. Not sure about the markings on the side but maybe it might be a custom profile. I don't know but I would think a company like Kent would keep customer's custom made profile settings on record & the markings are ID numbers.
aden Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 things is we measured the valve lift on the top of the valve and we were getting less than standard readings which i cant understand, but as i say it was using those long reach rockers so i dont know if that would make a difference or not but u dont use those anyway with an fr32 its got almost new group 1 size valves in it, just dont want to bin it and buy something else if im overlooking something here
