...I don't know whether to piss myself laughing or be scared that she is allowed to drive

 

And do you know what, these women drivers pay less insurance premiums than us blokes....go figure

 

 

The really sad truth is , and dont tell the women, that they pay on average more than the men,

 

Its a big con by the insurance companies and the car dealers that came about a few years ago.

 

Some bright spark insurance company siad we have 1 car per household and a named driver.

" Now if we had 2 cars at each house we would be able to get 2 lots of insurance and 2 named drivers.. more profit per household.

And we can win easily as the second driver is less of a risk/cost even if they have more accidents. "

 

The Facts

 

Average male miles per year.. 10k and a insured cost of £300

 

Average female miles per year..2k and a insured cost of £200

 

Now do the sums

 

Male 10,000 miles divided by £300 = 33.33 miles per £

 

Female 2,000 miles divided by £200= 10 miles per £

 

So per mile women pay over 3 times as much .

 

But.... they said what about the risk, and they guy said that the average female accident was at low speed, parking etc where as the male drivers who do more miles have larger ones, the cost of the female claims is lower, if more frequent.

 

So heres how the conned us all ...

 

20,000 claims in a year .. 15,000 where males and 5,000 where female.

 

which sounds like women are safer drivers... but the number of men driving was 10 x the amount of women ..so divide the 15k male accidents by 10 and you have 1500 accidents by men and divide the womens tally by 1 ... thats 5000 for the females .

But by ignoring the adjusted figures you can make women look like safer drivers.

 

So the hook was ... "women are safer drivers so we'll insure you for less"

 

The wife looked at this and said " I want my own car"

The husband said .. "ok you have my old car and i'll get down the dealers and buy a new one "

 

The dealers where happy ..

the insurance companies where happy ..

And women belived they where safer drivers even though they pay more for their insurance.

 

In recent years though the mileage has closed up ...but then so have the premiums.

 

Case in point ... my wifes pays £450 for her insurance but with me on there as a named driver she pays £425 ...
